Direct Hair Implantation

Direct implantation of hair grafts using the Choi Implanter Pen

TECHNOLOGY

What is the DHI Method?

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a modern hair transplant method that allows direct implantation of grafts without prior channel creation. Thanks to specialized instruments, the entire transplant process is very precise, gentle, and delivers natural-looking results.

Choi Implanter Pen

A specialized instrument with a hollow needle into which a hair graft is inserted. This allows the doctor to implant the graft in one smooth step. It ensures precise placement of each hair.

Direct implantation

Grafts are implanted directly into the scalp without unnecessary waiting. This helps protect hair follicles, reduces tissue stress, and promotes faster healing.

No channels needed

Each hair graft is inserted individually, without prior channel creation. The DHI method allows precise control of the depth, direction, and angle of hair growth.

PROCESS

How does DHI work?

The DHI transplant process takes place in several steps that ensure maximum precision and natural results.

4 steps of the DHI Method

1

Graft extraction

Hair follicular units are extracted from the donor area (most commonly the back of the head) using micro-surgical instruments. Each graft contains 1 to 4 hairs.

2

Graft sorting

Extracted grafts are carefully sorted by hair count to achieve the most natural result possible. Single-hair grafts are primarily used to create the front hairline, while multi-hair grafts are implanted into other areas to achieve optimal density.

3

Graft implantation

Sorted grafts are loaded into the Choi Implanter Pen, which creates a tiny opening and simultaneously implants the graft. The doctor has full control over the depth, angle, and growth direction of each hair, without the need for prior channel creation.

4

Healing and growth

The healing phase follows the procedure. During the first weeks, transplanted hair may naturally shed (known as shock loss). New hair begins to grow after 3-4 months, and full results are visible after 12-18 months.

BENEFITS

Why choose the DHI Method?

Ideal for precision work and densification between existing hair

Suitable for fine hair

The DHI method is ideal for fine hair and areas requiring maximum precision.

Precise placement

The Choi Implanter Pen enables implantation of each graft with high precision following the natural hair growth direction.

Small to medium scope

The DHI method is ideal for small to medium transplant areas.

Densification between hair

Ideal for densification between existing hair without the need to shave the head.

Hairline design

With maximum control over the angle and direction of hair growth, a completely new, precise, and natural hairline can be created.

Minimal scarring

Thanks to micro-surgical instruments, only tiny micro-dots remain in the donor area, which are virtually invisible after healing.
